The scientific research going on at Aalborg University Hospital is developing rapidly. Over the past four years, we have more than doubled the number of scientific publications.
We have invested heavily in research and the investments have paid off. Over the last few years, the hospital has gone from being a peripheral spot on the national research scene to becoming a central actor. Today we have an active and stimulating research environment with key resource persons and modern facilities, in order to attract highly qualified scientists from Denmark and abroad.
However, the progression does not stop here. In a time where research activities within many public health science institutions is stagnant or even declining, the increase in the research activities at Aalborg University Hospital only just begun. We will also be key players internationally, and have turned our eyes towards the European Union. EU funds and EU cooperation is already supplying Aalborg University Hospital with important resources both in terms of financial aid and new knowledge that arises when leading scientists share information across national borders - And our ability to attract those resources is still getting better.
The patients feel the benefits of our research Research is a necessity to ensure the patients better diagnostics and a more gentle and effective treatment. Particularly, we are focussing on the fact that there should be a shorter way from the pioneering research is done until the incorporation to everyday life in a hospital department for instance regarding new equipment or a new vaccine. The Research must applicable and therefore, Aalborg University Hospital has a close collaboration with private companies in The North Denmark Region. In 2005 we established Aalborg University Hospital Science and Innovation Centre where scientists and pharmaceutical companies are working under the same roof - the researchers have the ideas, and the companies have the resources to turn them into innovation.
